I know, I know!

I know, I know. I'm behind already on Project 365. Sort of. I have the pictures, I just haven't had time to put them up yet. But I had to put this up really quick!

Project 365 - Nov 8, 2007

Sometimes you just need ice cream for dinner.
:)

flashback

I totally forgot to post anything about the earthquake. It was a 5.6 and caused a big mess in the library, but not much other problems. It happened last Tuesday night. Here's a picture of the cleanup we had to do.

Project 365

I've decided as a sort of related side-project, I'm going to start "Project 365". Basically I'm going to take one photograph that represents something that happened to me during the day and keep a 365 day log. I'm not sure where I'm going to do this yet. I think it would be a pain in the ass to do it here. So I'll have to find somewhere else, but that's the idea. I'm already carrying my camera around pretty much 24/7 anyway, so why not? Plus it might be fun to look at a year from now.

I flipped up Yahoo! News and guess what I saw...

---- By H. JOSEF HEBERT, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - Programs that focus exclusively on abstinence have not been shown to affect teenager sexual behavior, although they are eligible for tens of millions of dollars in federal grants, according to a study released by a nonpartisan group that seeks to reduce teen pregnancies.

The study, conducted by Douglas Kirby, a senior research scientist at ETR Associates, also sought to debunk what the report called "myths propagated by abstinence-only advocates" including: that comprehensive sex education promotes promiscuity, hastens the initiative of sex or increases its frequency, and sends a confusing message to adolescents.

None of these was found to be accurate, Kirby wrote.

Instead, he wrote, such programs improved teens' knowledge about the risks and consequences of pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases and gave them greater "confidence in their ability to say 'no' to unwanted sex." ----

Think it might be time for the abstinence-only crowd to open their eyes? No. Me neither. Keep your kids stupid, let 'em find out for themselves. That way, you get the opportunity to tell them they're going to hell. But hey, they'll be in good company. They'll have all their family there, too.

maybe they're the reason

:(

These people believe the reason our soldiers are dying in Iraq is because God is taking revenge on this country's acceptance of homosexuality. Want to know what's really wrong with this country? Take a good look inside yourselves. If homosexuality is really against God's will... then we'll save you seats in hell because we'll be seeing you there too.

"Judge not lest ye be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?" Matthew 7: 1-4

P.S. $20 says she's pregnant before she finishes high school.

Give me an A...
Give me a B...
Give me a S...
Give me a T...
Give me an I...
Give me an N...
Give me an E...
Give me an N...
Give me a C...
Give me an E...

What's that spell?

That spells... your kids are lying to you. Hope you enjoy being a grandparent.

Some days you REALLY want to give the world a great big finger...
But then you think... No... If I do that, I'm no better.
Oh.. what the hell. Blow it out your ass!

i told you i would

from a youth spent starving and drowning
emerges a child
with two hands firmly gripped on the wheel
with nail marks charting the evolution
of my voluntarily rising waters
and subsequent lack of a visionary’s image
to mark it with a sure hand
quiet the cries of these hands and hearts
that longed for less than reflexive actions
or impulsive and erratic breathing
i want to be light upon my feet
and oh how you cried when you discovered
that i was deeper than that rope you carry
white hot hope in your sketch of stars
it makes me pray for blindness
to disappear like fingers snapping
just like it sounds
into your dim-lit corridor
where exists greed for indulgence
no pride for the restless
no prize for the guesswork
empty sterling rewards for the weary
what possesses you to seek this?
we framed two for every one that gave us an idea
we raised two glasses just in case
now i dance our taunting steps
from here to where you stand...

but you’ll never understand
i dream in richer color than you
i have proven it’s possible
in the world you forbid me to enter
i have passed the place where you stood
tilted my head to the moon
and let my spirit echo across your empty heart
with an air you can’t bear to see
blue eyes focused on your insatiable urge to deliver me
but i’m already alive
